Shotcrete

The term “shotcrete” is believed to have originated in the early 1900s, when a patent was issued for the process of propelling dry concrete mix through a hose to the desired location. Shotcrete itself is a type of concrete or mortar that is pneumatically projected onto a surface at high speeds. It is typically applied to surfaces such as rock faces and bridge abutments for erosion protection or for strengthening existing structures.

Sand, cement, water, and an aggregate (of sand or gravel) are the basic components that make up shotcrete. Additional sand can be used instead of aggregate. Coating steel reinforcing bars with shotcrete provides a smooth surface layer; part of the best practices in the industry.

Concrete is made of water, cement, sand, and a coarse aggregate (stone or gravel). After the concrete is sprayed on (shotcrete), it needs some time to cure before it can achieve its full potential. Curing causes it to become more rigid and robust. For example, it takes roughly 28 days to complete this process for a pool shell.

We stand behind our construction methods that ensure the strength and integrity of all our pools. Our clients can rest assured that their pools will last for decades, thanks to our commitment to the highest quality construction standards. We are proud to offer reliable, durable, and long-lasting pools that will provide years of enjoyment.

G3 pool and Spa Custom Pools

Design

At G3 Pool and Spa, we specialize in creating custom pools and spas with practically limitless possibilities. Our experienced team passionately helps clients bring their dreams and ideas to life, taking into account their environment and preferences to craft unique realities. We pay close attention to a range of considerations, allowing us to offer truly unique experiences that are tailored to each project.

Surrounding Elements

The environment of the pool should be considered with utmost care. A pool situated in a natural setting, such as near a lake, on a cliff, or as part of the scenic view, would offer a unique and tranquil experience. Conversely, a pool in an urban area could provide a more stimulating and entertaining atmosphere for those seeking recreation. No matter the location, the design of the pool should reflect the environment it is situated in, whether it be for exercise or leisure. This could determine the types of features included, from waterfalls to diving boards, and the safety measures that need to be taken.

Environmental Factors

The amount of shade that the yard receives at various times of the day plays a role in determining the best area in which to situate a pool. An additional consideration is typical wind direction, as it can affect future plans for maintenance.

Terrain Challenges and Opportunities

While the area surrounding the pool will ultimately be flat, the pool itself may incorporate many levels to create interest, include water features, and provide areas for relaxation or exercise. The pool’s design will take the existing topography into account and gauge the need to remove or add texture and height in certain areas.

Custom Features

At G3 Pool and Spa, the opportunity for custom concrete pools and water features is limitless! From fire bowls, to waterfalls and fountains, to sunbeds, slides, and even deck jets, the possibilities are endless and sure to excite. Let your imagination be your guide to creating your own personal oasis.

Finishing Touches

G3 Pool and Spa pays close attention to the finer details to produce a structure that is long-lasting, robust, and resilient. There is a wide selection of interior finishes and copings available to choose from, such as waterline tile, slate and pool plaster interiors, as well as natural stone or quarry-tiled pool copings. You can achieve the look you want for your backyard oasis with the assistance of our team as you make decisions about which options will best fit your space.

Finishing Custom Pools

Waterline Finish

The first six inches of a concrete pool are typically covered in tile, an area known as “the waterline finish.” This is essential due to the fact that the surface of a concrete pool is porous, and in the absence of this step, the waterline would become discoloured. Finishes for swimming pools come in a wide variety, including pebble, plaster, paint, and all-tile, among others.

Interior Finishes

During the very last stage of the construction process, the builders will apply the surface that will be on the inside of the concrete pool. Plaster is a material that is frequently utilized for this purpose, and it comprises a wide variety of components, such as cement, sand, marble dust, colour, and water. After pumping it through a hose, the builders use a gun to shoot it onto the pool shell, and then they trowel it to a smooth surface.

All-Tile Interiors

One of the textural, colour, and design options for concrete swimming pools is an all-tile finish. Because of its reputation for toughness and longevity, many people who own pools choose to line them in this manner. G3 Pool and Spa has decades of experience in the industry, and they provide custom pool designs that include all-tile options.

Pool Coping

Pool coping is the material used to finish the edges of a concrete pool. It provides a safe transition between the pool and the deck. It is often made of stamped concrete or natural stone pavers. As part of the design process, we will help you find the right coping materials to perfect the look you want for your custom pool.
